About us

Cavendish Primary School is a small, caring, school which is very much part of the local community.

We aim to achieve high standards of education by providing a broad and balanced curriculum in which children are actively involved in their own learning. We endeavour to develop independence, motivation and enthusiasm in all children whatever their ability. Each child and family are a valued part of our community regardless of race, religion, gender, social class or abilities. .

We make particularly good use of our attractive grounds and the surrounding area to extend the children’s work in all areas of the curriculum. We feel that Cavendish is an exciting place to be with children, staff, parents and the community working together to create a stimulating learning environment.

Our OFSTED Inspection in March 2008 found us to be a good school with many positive features. There is a link to this report at the bottom of this page

Cavendish now in top 4%. Our most recently published SATs results for the May 2009 tests were good with almost all of our children reaching or exceeding the expected level 4. The measure of "Added Value" attributable to the school was again very high. This is a measure of how much progress children make between the end of KS1 and the end of KS2. Our children make a fantastic amount of progress while they are with us. Last years cohort did so well  the school was placed in the top 4% of schools nationally.

News Updates 2009-10

Our new Library/ICT suite is now open. We have spent several thousands of pounds on new fiction and non-fiction books, involving our children in the process of choosing them. New PCs are in full use for whole-class teaching and are available after school for clubs and Community access.

Our Managed Learning Environment (MLE), running on the Fronter platform,  is well ahead of schedule. (The Goverment target is 2012 for all primaries). This is organised as a Virtual School where children and parents can access a huge range of learning resources in Virtual classrooms. They can also access information about the school and obtain a much enhanced overview of their childs progress. All children have access to this Platform via user names and passwords. Parents should ask for these if they have lost them so that they can help their children navigate the site.

Our new School Prospectus has now been published. It was produced with the active involvement of parents and Governors as well as staff. We think it accurately reflects life in our school. You can see it and download it via the link below.
