Sports & Clubs reports 2009-10
Autumn term
September
From September 2009 Football Club is back with Brentford FC - Division 2 champions!
There is a small charge for all clubs which is allowable under the schools Charging and Remissions Policy.
After-school Sports Clubs running
this term are Gymnastics for yrs 3-6 (Mon), Dance yrs 3-6 (Tues),
Football
Club yrs 3-6 (Tues 1st half-term only) Cheerleading yrs1-3 (Wed),
Netball Yr6 (Thurs), MultiSports yrs1-2 (Thurs), Walking yrs 3-6
(Fri lunchtime), FitKids yrs 1-3 (Fri).
Non-sports clubs running
this term are Drama yrs 3-6 (Mon), Environment yrs 3-6 (Tues 1st half
term only), Choir yrs 3-6, Homework yrs 3-6, Journalism yrs 3-6 (all
Wed lunch), French yrs 2-3, 4-6 (Wed), Art yrs 3-6, Philosophy yrs 1-3
(Thurs).
October
Brentford and Chiswick Area Cross Country Competition.
The
school entered a boys team and a girls team in this
competition running on different surfaces for about a mile around Dukes
Meadows on the banks of the Thames in sunny weather. Our best runners,
Hussein and Bruna, both finished 6th in their respective races.
Five schools entered. Overall the school was placed fith in the
competition with our girls finishing 3rd in their race and our boys 5th.
Brentford and Chiswick Area Yr 6 Football Competition.
Despite having the smallest number of yr6 boys in the Area's schools
the squad that played did fantastically well and are now the Area
Football Champions, something the school hasn't done for some years.
Five schools entered this competition. The boys won their first three
games without conceding a goal before losing their last game. They
topped the league two points ahead of the runners-up. They now go on to
represent the Area in the Borough finals.
Brentford and Chiswick Area Yr 6 Netball Competition.
The school took all of its netballers to this local competition and all
of our girls played in some games to get experience of competition.
Playing against the best netballers from other schools they improved as
the competition progressed but finally finished in fifth place.
Spring Term
January
After-school Sports Clubs running
this term are Gymnastics for yrs 3-6 (Mon), Dance yrs 3-6 (Tues),
Football yrs 3-6 (Tues 2nd half-term only) MultiSports yrs1-2 (Thurs), Walking yrs 3-6
(Fri lunchtime), FitKids yrs 1-3 (Fri).
A new Running club has just started with three teachers leading Yr6
runners around the local area on various cross-country courses. (Friday
lunch)
Non-sports clubs running
this term are Journalism Yrs 3-6 (Mon lunch) Drama yrs 3-6 (Mon),
Choir yrs 3-4, 5-6 (Alt Weds at lunch), Homework yrs 3-6 (Wed lunch) ,
French yrs 2-3, 4-6 (Wed), Art yrs 3-6, Philosophy yrs 1-3
(Thurs). ICT club for those children without ICT at home is on Tues
& Thurs lunchtime.!
February
The Hounslow Borough Year 6 Indoor Sports Festival.
Our Year 6 children were unable to compete in this event so a team from
Year 5 were taken and competed with great spirit against older teams
from around 50 schools. Despite their best efforts they failed to get
past the morning group stage.
The Chiswick Area Year 6 Indoor Sports Festival.
Our squad of athletes performed in a wide range of indoor sports events
and in a tight finish were just edged out of bronze medal position to
finish in 4th place. A special mention must go to Haibatu who won the
girls triple jump with a fantastic leap - it was even longer than
the winning boys jump!
Primary - Secondary Sports links.
Our Year 6 Rugby squad split into two teams and played
against two teams from Year 7 at Chiswick Community School. Our A team
played amazingly well to beat both of the secondary school's teams.
Very well done to all of our boys and girls.
Summer Term
April

(Fri lunchtime), Running yrs 3-6 (Fri lunchtime), FitKids yrs 1-3 (Fri).

Our Year 4 athletes competed with great spirit against teams
from around 50 schools.
they had a great day out finishing quite high in several of the events.
they stayed to watch the semi-finaks and finals after a lunchtime
aerobics session.
May
The Chiswick Area Year 5 Cricket competition. Our
team of cricketers competed against five others chools in this
competition. They were beaten by a strong Belmont team, narrowly lost
in the finally over to Strand and in the 5th/6th place play-off tied
with William Hogarth.
The Chiswick Area Year 6 Rugby League Competition. takes place on Thursday 27th May
